Ronel Blanco Activated by Houston Astros
Astros Recall Right-Handed Pitcher from Triple-A Sugar Land
Blanco Assigned to Estrellas Orientales in Dominican Winter League
Houston Astros right-handed pitcher Ronel Blanco has been activated from the 60-day injured list and assigned to the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League.
Blanco, 28, missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April. He is expected to pitch in a relief role for the Estrellas.
Blanco has pitched in 44 games for the Astros over the past two seasons, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. He was originally signed by the Astros as an international free agent in 2015.
The Astros now have a full 40-man roster, with Blanco taking the place of right-handed pitcher Enoli Paredes, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday.
